How many plants do I need to fill my flowerbed?
Calculate Square Footage of Flower Bed:
Before using either one of the calculator charts below, you will first need to determine the size of your flower bed in square footage. To do so, multiply the length by the width of the flowerbed.
For example: If your flowerbed is approximately 10 feet long by 5 feet wide you would have a total of 50 square feet. 10' x 5' = 50 Sq. Ft.
CHART 1
If your flowerbed is 50 square feet in size, and you intend on spacing the bedding plants in your flowerbed at 8" apart, you can use the chart below to quickly determine that 114 plants will be needed to fill the flower bed.

CHART 2
Chart 2 below tells you how many plants you will need per square foot based on how far you intend to space the plants in your flowerbed.
EXAMPLE 1:
If your flower bed is 12 feet long by 15' feet wide, total square footage of the bed would be 180 square feet. (12' x 15' = 180 Total Sq. Ft.)
So, if your flower bed is 180 square feet in size, and you intend on spacing your bedding plants at 8" apart, you can use the chart below to quickly determine that 114 plants will be needed to fill the flower bed. Here's what the equation would look like:
180 (square feet) x 2.25(plants per square feet) = 405 (plants needed to fill bed)

EXAMPLE 2: If your flower bed is 90 square feet in size, and you intend on spacing your bedding plants at 15" apart, you can use the chart above to quickly determine that 57 plants will be needed to fill the flower bed.
90 (square feet) x.64(plants per square feet) = 57 (plant needed to fill bed)
