Crawl Before You Walk

Brian Young is the youngest of 3 brothers and was raised in McDonough, GA in a family run with military precision; he jokes. Throughout homeschooling and a mix of private schooling he couldn’t get enough of anything computer related. He spent his early days (pre internet) forgoing sports for hopping from one B.B.S. to another drinking in as much knowledge as possible. His first actual computer program was an application that randomly displayed certain characters across the screen. It’s a laughable achievement according to today’s standards he says but it provided the building blocks of C style languages that he prefers today.

When I Grow Up...

As the .com bubble grew and seemed unstoppable at the time he was brought on as in intern at a (dot)com startup that promised the world in custom software to its customers. Trading in his internship for a full time position Brian spent his days and nights building out user interfaces for web based applications. “Hey, at that time knowing Javascript and Html made you hot stuff” he boasts. Over the next 10 years and various IT/programming related positions he spent his time honing his skill set as business demands and technology evolved.

Where Am I Now?

He now works as a software engineer consultant/contractor for small to medium sized businesses in the greater Atlanta area. He says he’s an enthusiastic computer geek by trade and entrepreneur by passion. There isn’t a day that goes by where he isn’t trying to apply some form of technology to almost every aspect of his life. Growing up in a small town Brian has accumulated a hodgepodge of abilities. It’s safe to say that he’s a bit of a polymath or around these parts we just call that a renaissance man. Asking him what he likes to do for fun his quickest response was to cook however that’s mainly because it ends with eating. As a hobby during the summer months you’d find a small herb and vegetable garden in his backyard although he says the deer benefit from it more than he does.
