Encore© Azaleas are unique in that they bloom heavily during both the Spring and Fall seasons. And the story gets better. If you fertilize and care for Encore's properly, you can expect them to bloom during the Summer as well! So, if you adore spring blooming azaleas you can now enjoy an explosion of Encore Azalea color season after season. Encore Azaleas are the only patented brand of azaleas to bloom in spring, summer and fall!
Each of the many Encore varieties begins their performance with the spring flowering season. Once this "first act" of blooming concludes, new shoots begin to grow and set buds. The Encore Azalea's "second act" opens when these buds begin blooming into full flower during summer. This unique bloom season continues through the fall, the curtain dropping with the onset of cold weather. But, the show goes on. As an "encore," these exceptional azaleas flower again with traditional spring azaleas and the process starts over.

Gardenias are a must in every garden for the abundance of sweetly fragrant, velvety, double or single white flowers produced from spring through mid-summer and some even into fall. They easily adapt to a variety of soil conditions as long as the soil is acidic (4 to 5.5 pH). To acidify soil apply iron, aluminum sulfate or soil sulfur.
At Gardener Direct, you'll find many varieties of Gardenia including the old favorites such as August Beauty and Radicans Dwarf, some of the newer varieties such as the more cold tolerant Frost Proof and Daisy Hardy Gardenia and, last but not least, the ever-blooming Jubilation gardenia which produces its fragrant flowers from spring through fall.
Gardenias are perfect for planting near windows or anywhere around porches, decks, patios and other outdoor living areas where their wonderful fragrance can be enjoyed. Of course they make excellent cut flowers.

(Lor-oh-PET-uh-lum)
If you live and garden in a region where the average low temperature doesn't go below 0 to 5 degrees Fahrenheit during winter, and you're looking for low-maintenance, super-hardy, pest and disease resistant flowering shrubs to color up your landscape, it does't get much better than the Loropetalums. Loropetalums, also known as Chinese fringe-flower or Chinese witch hazel are now available in many varieties, each having its own unique characteristics and each offering different uses in the landscape. Perhaps the most popular of all the varieties is Purple Pixie; a dwarf mounding purple-leaved groundcover/shrub that grows about 18" inches in height with a 3 to four foot spread. It's cousin, Purple Diamond is a mid-size shrub that grows to about 4 feet in height with an equal spread. Both varieties have deeper purple evergreen foliage that does not fade during summer. Ever Red Sunset is a new variety and the first to produce red flowers, rather than the typical pink. Emerald Snow is a more recent introduction featuring pure white flowers off and on though out the season that contrast wonderfully with the evergreen, emerald green foliage.
