I am retired and living in North East (literally!), Maryland which is near the top of the Chesapeake Bay and is primarily swamp land. The soil is slick, slimy, dense gray clay (like the stuff you use to make clay pots!). So growing anything is a challenge. The key is to dig while the ground is moist, remove the clay, replace with real soil, then plant and pray.
