Plant Ceasar's Brother Iris in beds that provide well-drained soil and full sun to part shade. Plants will bloom heavier in more sun. This iris has been growing in my garden for over 15 years. I've divided it many times just to create more patches. Some of the older patches continue to bloom as heavy each and every May as the newer patches. This is one tough iris that will turn heads when it's in bloom!

Ceasar's Brother Iris requires no pruning during the growing season. After the blooms fade, unique seed pods are quite attractive and the foliage remains upright and maintains good appearance throughout the season. In late winter, before new growth begins to emerge, you can cut back the dead foliage as you would many ornamental grasses that go dormant during winter. I throw a little organic flower food around Ceasar's Brother Iris in early spring right after the new growth begins to emerge.

This iris has been growing in my garden for over 15 years and nothing has ever touched it...no insects, no disease and no deer. I have it growing in a very well-drained and dry spot. Not sure if it will tolerate moist soil though I've heard it will? I've divided the clumps many times over the years just to create more patches. Some of the older patches continue to bloom as heavy each and every May as the newer patches. This is one tough iris that will turn heads when it's in bloom!
