Rosemary prefers a well-drained soil and thrives in rocky soils. It will grow in a wide pH range between 6 and 8.5 with a preferred range between 6.0 and 7.5. As with many other types of plants, constantly soggy soil is a killer. To prevent root rot and other diseases, be sure your plants enjoy good soil drainage and air circulation. If needed, add a soil conditioner or small gravel to the backfill mixture when planting.

Chef's Choice® Rosemary does not require pruning however can be cleaned up to remove any dead wood before the plant resumes active growth or after it flowers in spring. Stems can be cut for culinary, oil and other uses any time during the warm season however I recommend ceasing pruning 45 days or so before the average first frost date in fall or early winter.
