Flowering cabbage plants are great for adding color to the winter garden. They are great for mixing with pansies and other cool season plants in flower beds or containers. Plant them in Fall and when the first frost comes the foliage of many varieties will begin to change from green or grey-green to vivid shades of red, purple, rose, pink or white, depending on the variety. The leaves of kale are edible however, if picked, are usually used as a colorful garnish.
