Will landscape wood mulch attract termites to my yard and home?

Answer #1 · Chason Arthur's Answer · NO! This is a myth. Dyed and various other types of shredded landscape wood mulch does not attract termites. If you live in areas where termites are prevelant, chances are you already have hundreds of thousands of termites per acre living on your property so there's nothing you can do to "attract" them. It is true that termites are attracted to and eat wood, however, they usually go after large chunks of buried wood such as discarded lumber, tree stumps or logs. Too, if you live in area prone to termite infestation, you should have your home inspected and/or treated once a year to check for and protect against termite infestation if necessary.)
