When Should I Prune My Crepe Myrtle Tree?

When should I prune my crepe myrtle tree? I live in Modesto which is in central Califronia. I would like to do it now but I don't want to trim too early. Thank you.

Answer #1 · Maple Tree's Answer · Hi Kathy-The best time to prune your crape myrtle is in late winter or early spring. If you prune to early and we get a warm spell like we did last week in Ca. new growth may start early. This new early growth would be very suseptable to damage by any early frost.
