Hi Pamela, I think Goshen, Kentucky is in USDA 6b. When selecting shrubs for a foundation planting I always think of plants that are long-lived, hardy, and evergreen or semi-evergreen. That being said, sometimes I include deciduous plants. If you can let me know which side of the house you are planting on (east, west, north or south) or when the planting area will receive sun (all day, morning only, afternoon only, filtered light) I can provide a list of plants that would work well for you. Knowing how the soil drainage is would also be helpful (consistently wet, well-drained dry, well-drained moist). - Brent
