Answer #1 · Maple Tree's Answer · Hi Cherry Rose-I believe you are looking at the correct plant. Some of the common names for this plant are Rose Grape, Love Plant, Showy Asian Grape, and Malaysian Orchid. As close as I can tell your plants botanical name is Medinilla speciosa. It is in the Melastomataceae family. I found there are 418 species of this plant. Because of this I'm not really sure of your plants exact species. This plant is evidently a native of the Philippines. Because of this I'm thinking one of your local nurseries may be able to help with the correct identity of this plant. There is an Agricultural Training Institute in the Philippines which is an agency of the Phillipine government under the Department of Agriculture. Possibly you can find some information through this department that can help.

I uploaded a few pictures I found of Medinilla speciosa I believe look close to what you had uploaded.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

John)

Hi,John! Good to see you've gotten the right answer again. ;) Indeed, the picture you've uploaded is the image of my Rose Grape/Medinilla speciosa. The picture I saw in the web have much bigger flowers that's why I'm not exactly sure if mine is the same plant.Glad to know it has 418 species.I wish to have more species one day. Thanks for the info about where I might find additional info about my plant. :) I wonder if I can add this to our plant file but I don't know how and my knowledge about this plant is not that much yet. :(

Glad I could help again. Yes you can add this plant to the plant data base. That would be great and a nice way to gain points toward your Gardenality ranking. You can click on the 'Plants' tab above. Go down to the blue box. At the bottom of the box you will see where to click to add a new plant. This will take you to where you can start adding the file. At the top of this page you can click on how to add a new plant file. This is the link to 'How to Add A Plant File' http://www.gardenality.com/Articles/3/Gardenality/Gardenality-Plants/Plant-Database/Add-A-Plant-Getting-Started.html You can copy and past this to go directly to the easy to follow article. Don't hesitate trying to add a plant in Gardenality. You can do a Google search of the plant and find many sites that will give you information your not sure of. If you can't find some information just leave it blank. When your plant file is edited for approval by other members, possibly myself, they will help to complete the file. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me for any help you need. You already have some great pictures for the plant file that you can use. You can always look at other plant files to get an idea of what characteristics are noted on the plant files. Its easier to write them down before starting to add your plant. This way you won't feel pushed to finish the plant file quickly. Don't forget to click on save to save any information you added. This way you don't have to start over if you want to stop and come back to the file later. Just feel free to ask if you have any questions.
