I have some kind of fungus that is growing in my fescue lawn. It looks kind of like a grey ash substance that's growing on the blades of the grass. It's forming irregular shape rings in the lawn. What is this and how do I get rid of it?

Answer #1 · Chason Arthur's Answer · Sounds like slime mold to me. Slime mold is common on grass during periods of heavy rainfall or in low-lying areas of the lawn that remain consistently damp or moist. Slime mold is not harmful, not a parasite, and not damaging. If it raises your blood pressure, use sprays of water to wash it off or just cut the grass and collect clippings with a grass cathcer.
Slime mold is NOT a disease of plant tissues and should not be treated as such.
These molds are a kind of fungus that is merely using your grass blades as support.)
