Answer #1 · Brent Wilson's Answer · Tropical plants, such as tropical hibiscus, bougainvillea, and orchids, are those which are native to tropical regions of the world. What are tropical regions? These are regions of the world where temperatures stay warm and very humid year around. Many tropical plants have large and colorful flowers, which is why they are so popular for use in landscaping or inside the home all over the world. Most houseplants are also tropical in origin. If you live in a cooler region, chances are most tropical plants will not survive outdoors during the winter. Temperatures below 50 degrees F will usually damage or kill tropical plants. This doesn't mean you can't use them outdoors during the warm season in your region. You can also grow tropicals outdoors in containers that can be overwintered indoors and set outside again when the next warm season rolls around.)
