Hello, I was just in Florida at my Aunts house and she wanted it cut down. She did warn me not get it my eyes so i used a pair of safety glasses. I do have sensitive skin, so any way working with saw cutting it down i got a lot of the liquid on my left arm. It has blistered it pretty bad on the inside, this happened on Friday. My question is should i seek a Dr. or just keep treating as i am at home which is improving but very slow.

This answer is my personal opinion only as I have had some practical experience with pruning this plant (Euphorbia tirucallii) and other Euphorbias. The latex from this plant can be extremely toxic if ingested or enters the eyes. I would always seek immediate medical attention if this was to happen. The severity of irritation, inflamation, and pain on the skin depends on how each individuals skin reacts to it. I have had some of the milky substance on my skin fortunately producing only some small spot redness with no pain that was gone in a day or so. In my opinion anyone experiencing more than a small amount of redness or irritation that doesn't disappear in a day or so such as a rash or blistering should seek a doctors advice. I personally would want to know if there was something I could do to help the healing and keep from having any later appearance of damage to my skin.

Hope this has helped.
