Answer #1 · Maple Tree's Answer · Hi SIPHESIHLE-There are different grasses depending on location that are commonly called Wintergrass. I'm thinking you may have Poa annua. The annual bluegrass, Poa annua, is one of the most common weeds of residential lawns and gardens in the United States. It supposedly is native to Europe but is found worldwide. It reseeds itself in Autumn, winter, and spring and dies out during the long warm weather of summer. I noted a link below to an article on this invasive weed. It will give you information on this grass and how to control it. Just click on the link to go directly to the article.

Let me know if you feel this may not be the winter grass you have. If not, give me your location, city and state, and I will research further for you.
