Answer #1 · Gardenality.com's Answer · This is a very good question, Daniel.

First, you have to have a picture to upload. The picture needs to be at least 800 pixels width by 500 pixels height. Reason being, the image upload system will increase the image to this size automatically. If the image is much smaller than this, it will be expanded and probably look all fuzzy or pixelated.

TIP: When you take a picture with a digital camera, and then load it on to your computer, the image size is usually way more than 800x500 pixels. So, just leave it this size unless you know how to use a photo editing program to crop it to 800x500. Also, when taking a picture, try to keep the plant or flower in the center of the picture. The image uploader on Gardenality will often crop the sides and top of the picture off to make it fit in various size templates used to display plant file pictures throughout the site.

Okay, so after you have a picture taken and loaded on to your computer now you have to upload it to a Gardenality Plant File. To do this, follow these steps:

1 - When on the Plant File you want to upload a picture to, click on the tab that says: View Upload Pictures. The image uploader window will appear on your screen.

2 - Then click on the box that says: "I have read and accept the above picture upload terms & conditions."

3 - Then, click on the button that says: "Choose File" and find the plant picture where you saved it on your computer. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, you need to find a friend who knows and he/she can show you how to do this.

4 - When you have selected the picture you want to upload, the name of the picture should show up next to the Choose File button. Now, click the Upload Picture button. Depending on the size of your image, it may take a minute or so for your picture to upload. When it does, a window will appear that has your picture in it. In this window, you can slide the crop field (dotted rectangular box) up and down to center your picture. Then click on the green button that says: "Crop Picture and Continue."

5 - Then, another window will open up where you can add a caption and description of the picture if you want. This is optional. The click on "Save Picture and Done" and your done!

Hope this helped. Have fun uploading pictures:-)

If you have any other questions on this or any other topic let me know. I'll be more than happy to answer them.
