Answer #1 ·
Gardenality.com's Answer · This is a very good question. There are several ways to get pictures for uploading to Gardenality Plant Files:
1 - You can take them yourself. About 90% of the plant pictures I have uploaded to plant files in Gardenality are one's that I have taken myself. Here's a picture-taking tip: When you take a picture, make sure the plant or the flower is in the center of the picture. This way, when the Gardenality system crops it to fit various templates where the picture will appear on the site, it won't crop off too much of the plant or flower.
2 - If you are creating a new Plant File on Gardenality and you don't have a picture to upload, but would like to upload one, you can always check out
http://commons.wikimedia.org to see if they have a license-free image of the plant. When you get to the site, look for the images icon/tab and click on it. Then enter the name of the plant in the search.
3 - You can use a search engine like Google or Bing to do an "image" search. This will usually get you results, but be careful not to use copyrighted images. I would recommend contacting the website owner to ask permission before using images from any website. If they won't allow you to use the image, use this as an opportunity to suggest they join Gardenality and upload it themselves:-)
Hope this answered your question.
