I know that tomato plants give tons of fruit, but are there other tall plants? I live in hardiness zone 5b and I have hot summers of around 90 to 100 degrees with bright sunlight.

Are you looking for suggestions for fruit, vegetables, or both? Either way, I should be able to give you a list of plants that produce high yields. Let me know and I'll generate a list for you. Have a good day.

Answer #1 · Brent Wilson's Answer · Here's a list of fruit and vegetable plants that produce a big crop of fruit, grow upright and taller in habit, and produce large crops of fruit in zone 5b:

Vegetables (these are all annual/seasonal):

Bell Peppers, Cayenne Pepper, Banana Peppers, Jalepeno Peppers, Okra, Pole Beans (require staking or trellis system). Corn is tall-growing but not sure you could say it produces "tons"? At least not just a few plants in a small plot. You might want to think about Asparagus as well, it's a perennial plant that can live up to 10 years or so.

Fruit Plants (these are all hardy):

Northern Highbush Blueberry, Bush Cherry, Serviceberry ('Regent' and 'Fergie'), Black and Red Currants, Gooseberries, Hardy Kiwi (will need trellis)

Hope this helped.)
