Answer #1 · Maple Tree's Answer · Hi Homer-St. Augustine grass grows well in a wide range of soil types. The main things this type of grass needs is good fertility and a well draining soil. It will grow well in a pH range of 5.0 to 8.5. In higher alkaline soils above 7.5 it can develop some yellowing of the leaves.
