Can someone please help me choose a Yaupon Holly. It will be used for foundation planting... I live in Mississippi. I was told that Yaupon Holly was a good foundation planting. Thanks a lot...

Answer #1 · Brooks Wilson's Answer · Gwen, Bordeaux Dwarf Yaupon Holly is my favorite. It, unlike other Dwarf Yaupon Hollies, has burgundy new growth throughout the growing season. If you prefer solid green foliage the Shillings or Taylors Rudolph are good Yaupon Hollies as well.. The Taylors has red berries in the Fall and Winter. If you are looking for 3-4' in height and full or part shade, some other possibilities for a good foundation plant are: Carissa Holly, Soft Touch Holly, Snow Indian Hawthorne, Eleanor Tabor Indian Hawthorne, Rose Creek Abelia, Purple Diamond Loropetalum, Emerald Snow Loropetalum and Wintergreen Boxwood. All of these selections should be here for you to look at on here on Gardenality.

Hope this helps you out!

I love all of your selections, Brooks. The area is full sun....Do you think a canna (Canna Tropicanna Gold) would look great with any of those hollies or any canna? I am new to gardening....In addition, what would you recommend I plant in front of the hollies? This location is in front of my home and it is full sun...Thanks and I appreciate your assistance.
