Are Blue Point Juniper Too Large To Plant On Each

Filed Under: Roses · Keywords: Blue Point, Juniper, Too Large, Bay Window, Foundation · 390 Views
Last year i planted a blue point juniper on each side of my bay window with iceberg roses in the middle. It really looks nice. a neighbor informed me that the tend to grow big which makes me concerned since my roof goes over the bay window. Do you think is should remove them and if so what other plant could I consider in its place

Answer #1 · Brooks Wilson's Answer · Hi Raymond,
I would keep in mind that Blue Point Juniper, without pruning, can reach 15-20 feet in height and 6-8 feet in width. Since they are small enough to transplant I would go ahead and do it this Fall. If you like the furry conifer texture a few better selections would be Degroots Spire Arborvitae or Dwarf Alberta Spruce, both of which have a much smaller mature size. If you are not set on having a conifer you could use Sky Pencil Holly or Red Beauty Holly. Both are maintainable at a reasonable height of about 6-8 feet. The Oakland Holly or Steeds Holly are other selections that might work as well.
Hope this helps you out!
