We have no trees in our new backyard. We would like to put in several but would like to have trees that do not shed alot and require alot of maintenance. The trees would receive full sunlight. Would like for the trees to have some color. We live in the south so it is very hot and usually dry. What are your suggestions?

Answer #1 · Brooks Wilson's Answer · Hi Nancy. If you are looking for trees that don't shed alot you would have to consider evergreen trees. Evergreen trees would include, larger growing upright Hollies such as- Nelli R. Stevens Holly, Fosteri Holly, Savannah Holly, Mary Nell Holly, and so on. Cypress trees- such as Leyland Cypress, Carolina Sapphire Cypress, Hinoke Cypress. There are several varieties of Deodara Cedar. Several varieties of Pine trees. Evergreen Giant Arborvitae, Radicans or Yoshino Cryptomeria, Wax Myrtle, Ti Ti Tree, Tree Form Zho Zhou Loropetalum, and of course this is only a list of the most popular selections. Most of the trees listed above grow from between 15 feet in height to 60 feet. You should be able to find Plant pages for each of the above listed plants here on Gardenality. You can also use the 'Search By Attribute' plant search as well to find other possibilities.

Hope this helps you out!

Brooks Wilson.)
