How Invasive Is Micanthus 'Silver Arrow'?

I'm thinking of planting a couple of Micanthus 'Silver Arrow' under a small tree I'm going to plant in the corner of my yard, between two fences. Does anyone know how invasive Micanthus 'Silver Arrow' is? Should I pick something else?

Answer #1 · Brent Wilson's Answer · At my last home I had two Silver Arrow Miscanthus growing for about 5 years. I really liked them. They were planted in full sun so stayed very full and upright. They grew larger every year but wouldn't say they were invasive. In 5 years they grew to about 5 or 6 feet wide, so you need to provide sufficient space for them to grow. There are pictures of these in the Silver Arrow Plant File here in Gardenality. I've provided you a link below. I have one Silver Arrow planted in my present landscape. It's growing in a site that gets afternoon shade and isn't doing so well; very leggy and falling all over the place. Think I will move it to a site that provides full, all day sun. If you're looking for a smaller ornamental miscanthus grass I might suggest 'Gold Bar' or 'Adagio', which are both dwarf forms of Miscanthus sinensis. Muhly Grass is nice as well. All of these require well-drained soil and plenty of sun. Here's some links to their Plant Files:
