Answer #1 · John Heider's Answer · Hi Emily-There are some good articles in Gardenality on how to control weeds, fertilize, mow, plant, and maintain a Centipede lawn. Hopefully the weeds haven't taken over a larger percentage of the area than the lawn itself. In this case you may want to think about a complete replanting or just a restoration of the lawn. There are articles that will show you how to do this also. Now is a good time to start with the preemergent weed control before weeds emerge in the spring. The warmer weather this year may have them coming up weeks before they normally do. You can go to the "ARTICLES" tab above and type CENTIPEDE in the search box. There you will find all these articles. I have listed the links to these articles below. You can click on them to take you directly to each article. These will help you control the weeds and how best to maintain the lawn also. If you need more help please let me know.

Answer #2 · Brent Wilson's Answer · Hi Emily - Like John says, if you still have a good amount of Centipede grass in your lawn, you should start with weed *prevention* right away by applying a lawn weed preventer now. Team 2G is a good weed preventer. It will kill weed seeds before they can sprout. Mowing the weeds to prevent them from going to seed will help as well. You can also spray existing weeds with a weed *killer*. For Centipede grass, use only a product containing Atrazine. Other chemicals might damage the grass. Take some time to read the articles John posted links to above. You'll find everything you need to know about growing and caring for a Centipede lawn.
