Weed Prevention

Looked for your recomended weed preventor.. Treflan... but all I could get at Lowes was a preen product.. for the same thing... should I go the Homedepot? or will this product give me the same result??

Answer #1 · John Heider's Answer · Jeanne-Treflan is a trade name of a pre-emergent herbicide containing trifluralin. There are other brands that use the chemical trifluralin to kill weeds that should work just as well as Treflan, though the directions on the label may vary. They are all pre-emergent herbicides useful for vegetable and ornamental gardens, the same as Treflan. The active ingredient in each, trifluralin, works the same way. If Preen is all you can find in your area it should work fine.
Preen also has trifluralin but I believe in a smaller percentage than Treflan. Use as directed on the container label. You might check with the better nurseries or garden centers in your area to see what brands they may carry also.)
