My Mail Order Heuchera Has Dead Leaves?

Filed Under: Perennial Plants · Keywords: Mail Order, Heuchera, Arrived, With, Dead Leaves · 211 Views
I had ordered this plant through a shopping center, when I had received this plant all of the leaves on the plant were dead. I took the leaves off and planted the plant. Will the leaves grow back or will I have to wait until next year?

Thank you!

Answer #1 · Brooks Wilson's Answer · Hi Amanda,

I'm not sure if your Heuchera will survive or not. The plant must have dried out or been in the shipping box and lacked air and light for too long a period of time. About all that you can do is wait and see. Make sure not to over water the plant. With no leaves it won't need nearly as much water. Until the plant starts growing it won't absorb much water. If watered too heavily it will be very quick to suffer from root rot. A very light application of slow release fertilizer such as Dynamite or Osmocote might be a good idea to gently push out new growth.

I hope that your plant recovers from the stress it's experiencing.
